being the change I want to see…

Deep realization today – I have to study yoga, and in general get my body moving.

I need to bring a more rounded and balanced essence to my Householder Yoga. I have to own my body to do that. I can’t embrace the theoretical and left brained at the cost or exclusion of the physical. I have been much heavier than I want to be for about 11 years now.  I have ignored so many parts of my physical being. It has caused me to hide from society, friends, and potential friends.

As a high school friend so succinctly put it recently in HER blog,

Does my body match what I’m trying to put out into the world?

Emphatically no, and yet, maybe as I change it I can hopefully encourage and inspire others to do so as well.

Me in the garden 3 years ago….

Backyard with some of my old art….

So.  I’ll be talking about this much more regularly here. I know physical strength and stamina, flexibility and grace make a householder’s path easier.

All of you are invited to post comments to encourage me along the way.

This song is AWESOME….check it out!

love the photos and the art on the back wall. I want to do something like that now. You have inspired me. Inspiring others to create art is definitely the life you want to be living. Right?

With movement comes a different kind of joy than that which comes from introspection. You deserve both!

I smile and celebrate with you as you start to move more. I know you’re already working hard to feed your body the good things it deserves, just don’t worry too much if the rest of the family does not follow along – do what YOU need to do!

We may not be able to *change* our bodies, but we can nurture them and make healthy choices that feel good:)

Practicing my householder yoga and have pictures to share. Trying to figure out how to do that. Advice?

    Today’s practice…
    Flex and spread,
    Point and squeeze
    and enjoy your childs efforts!
(Logan is now starting to clean his room, for allowance naturally, and today as I clean my room and house I take a moment to enjoy his efforts)

Clasp your hands behind your back

Clasp your hands behind your back, breathe, squeeze your shoulder blades together, raise your arms behind your back, breathe, open your collar bone and heart, breathe, breathe, breathe, bend forward knees slightly bent, breathe, raise up slowly, straighten spine, lower arms, release hands, arms to your sides and breathe. Feel the strength in your arms and open heart.
